PASTOR PAUL THOMPSON'S SERMONS
Paul's Story
Paul Thompson is a Pennsylvania native who was born in 1950 to Arthur and Doris Thompson. Growing up, his father served as the pastor of Colwyn Baptist Church, and Paul graduated from Darby Colwyn High School in 1968. He continued his education at Eastern College, where he majored in history and played both basketball and baseball.
Paul has always been an avid sports fan, particularly of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, his passion for ministry led him to pursue further education. He earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1975 and went on to obtain his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1993.
After initially teaching at The Christian Academy for three years, the Lord led Paul to Aldan Union Church where he served as the youth pastor for 5 years before transitioning to the senior pastor role for the next 35 years.
Throughout his career, Paul has dedicated himself to serving the community and sharing his faith. He has worked as a pastor, teacher, coach and mentor to many individuals. His wife, Beth Thompson, has been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout his journey. Together, they have two sons, Dan and Jon, and two grandsons, Connor and Austin.
Paul's commitment to education, sports, and ministry has made him a well-respected and influential figure in his community. Even in retirement, he continues to be actively involved at Mount Vernon Christian Church, serving on their elder board, filling the pulpit as needed, and volunteering wherever he is needed.
